Language exchange rota:
12th March 2010:Anyone who is fluent in English who wants to practice their French. The aim of the group is to meet people for conversation in French and English in a relaxed environment. There's no set topic -- it's like meeting up with a big group of friends for a chat.
The idea is to speak for half of the time in French and half of the time in English, thus making the meeting like a language exchange. You can chat to the person beside you, in front of you etc or get up and move around the table to speak to whomever you want.
A lot of our members are bilingual or at least fluent in both French and English. Please bear this in mind before coming, as the language level is high.
Check the about us page first and then the forum.
"It's just not Friday unless you're here!"
Our usual venue, Le Boudoir, is closed indefinitely. Meanwhile please join the group at the Spanish tapas bar down the road, Le Delicatessen. The venue is located within 5 minutes' walking distance of the metro station Francois Verdier.
Address: 11 bis, Rue Riquet, 31000 Toulouse
Metro: Francois Verdier (line B)
Narelle — your friendly English in Toulouse founder, is usually there to host the group, however sometimes can't make it. You can still find the group though, just listen out for a large group of English speakers.
Do you finish work too late to join us on a Friday afternoon? Well now you can join us for drinks and sometimes dinner on Friday nights for our new event: Happy Hour!
Often after French Fridays those who are still chatting at 7pm-ish go on to a pub or grab a bite to eat — and as of 9th October, 2009, it's become a bit more official!
Though the venue and what we actually do will change from week to week, we will do something every week after French Fridays.
Our first official Happy Hour session on 9th October 2009 started off at the Bar Basque for half price pints, then out for curry and then off to the George and Dragon pub, where we stayed until closing.
Where will we go and what will we do next time? Be at French Fridays by 7pm to find out.
Become a member of English in Toulouse! It's free and easy to do. As a member, you receive invitations to special events, can contact other members and leave messages on our forum — you'll also receive an e-mail reminder a few days before a meeting.
