A messy and fun filled evening took place when English in Toulouse celebrated five years of existence on Friday 30th April 2010 at Le Picotin.
The restaurant was our Christmas party venue for 2009 and we were so pleased with it that we went back there to celebrate this special occasion.
This time around it was a sit-down meal, and with bibs around our necks we tucked in to a delightful finger-food feast of flamed duck hearts, roast quail, skewers of duck breast, all-you-can-eat fries and all-you-can-drink wine, followed by a devilishly good chocolate fondue with fresh fruit and marshmallows — yum!
But it was not entirely a happy occasion. Jennifer, the very first person to join the group five years ago, is moving to the north of France in a couple of weeks, and so it was also a farewell dinner for her.
Those of us who know Jennifer, got together and chipped in for a little present from the Tlse shop: a t-shirt and a pink Occitan cross. She loved the gifts and wore them straight away (last picture on the right in the pink t-shirt)!
The evening wrapped up well after closing time, shortly before 2am, when the last of us had polished off the wine and said our goodbyes to the very nice waitresses.
We will have to find an excuse to go back before the 2010 Christmas Party. It's just so much fun!
The restaurant outing marked the first of five special events over the next five months, celebrating our 5th birthday. Our second event is a hike in the Pyrenees at the end of May, and promises to be another great day!
